Changes for 2009
posted 03/28/2009

The FCYFA has approved the following changes to our program:

Park Alignment
The 4 parks will align with the High Schools in 2010.   The alignment will allow families to play at the park of their choice, we will not mandate where you play. In 2010, we will have Midway Wolverines, Sawnee Bulldogs, Bennett Raiders, and South War Eagles and Lambert Longhorns at Sharon Springs.

This fall (2009) we will play as the Midway Wolverines with navy and vegas gold as our colors.  The uniforms in 2009 will be a vegas gold helmet, with vegas pants and a navy home jersey and a white away jersey.

Grade Base System
The FCYFA has voted and approved the change to grade base teams for 2009. This means teams are set based on grade, not age.

 Grade Base
K & 1st Grade :  associated age is 7 or younger on August 31st  (must be 5 year old by August 31st to play)
2nd Grade : associated age is 8 or younger on August 31st
3rd Grade : associated age is 9 or younger on August 31st
4th Grade : associated age is 10 or younger on August 31st
5th Grade : associated age is 11 or younger on August 31st
6th Grade : associated age is 12 or younger on August 31st
7th & 8th Grade : associated age is 13 or younger on August 31st

Note:  If you are older than the age associated with your grade, you must play up to the next grade or to the grade that is associated with your age.  You can not play below your grade level.
Grades are based on the 2009-2010 school year.  A player will be allowed to play up one grade level. This change will have an affect on a small number of kids, but in most cases it will allow kids who are older than their classmates to play down with their classmates.

Participation Rule
The FCYFA has implemented the following system for 2009:
5 & 6 year olds - 50/50 entire game – no free substitution but the line-ups at half time can be changed to move players to different positions.
7 year olds - 50/50 entire game – no free substitution but the line-ups at half time can be changed to move players to different positions.
8 year olds – 10 plays per half
9 year olds – 10 plays per half
10 year olds – 8 plays per half
11 year olds – 8 plays per half
12/13 year olds – no restrictions on participation, however all coaches should ensure that all kids get adequate participation time.
A play is any offensive or defensive play including special teams.
